A lot of people I know have an extreme opinion about pink – they either love it (rather, are obsessed with it) or have an unwarranted disdain for it. Personally, I wasn’t much of a pink fan in my earlier years but over the last couple of years I have had a growing appreciation for strong pink shades (fuchsia, magenta etc).
As it turns out, Pantone’s official colour of 2011 is a dynamic reddish-pink which they call honeysuckle. Gorgeous vibrant flower, isn’t it? While the 2010 turquoise colour was about evoking feelings of escape (ocean, soft sand and sunny skies), Pantone say the 2011 hue is “encouraging and uplifting. It elevates our psyche beyond escape, instilling the confidence, courage and spirit to meet the exhaustive challenges that have become part of everyday life.”
So it’s likely that like we’ll be seeing a fair bit of pink this year. For those of you who aren’t huge fans of this colour, maybe these images will help to sway you… a hit of strong pink can look absolutely stunning. See proof below!

I am definitely feeling energised and invigorated by all this exuberant pink! I admit that there isn’t much pink in my home yet but I might add some of this peppy colour with flowers or a bit of art.
What are your thoughts? Will you be using strong pinks in your decor this year?
